Gerri Granger
She projects her voice skillfully and easily, making
particular good use of the rich, lower areas of her range. She
phrases perceptively, enunciates clearly and does it all with
a casual throwaway manner as she takes confident command of the
stage. - JOHN S. WILSON - New York Times
Until GERRI GANGER by chance won a amateur night
contest at Teddy Powell's Lounge in Newark, N.J. When she was
14, she had no thoughts of becoming a professional singer, but,
it was apparent and quickly acknowledged that GERRI has a "GIFT",
that would not be stilled. She would go on to pursue her many
other Talents and Life, but always, always, there was her singing....
After graduation from Weequarhic Hugh School in
Irvington, N.J., Gerri received an Art Scholarship to study Industrial
Design, finishing at New York University. Meanwhile...She had
also begun to sing throughout the area with Lloyd Price 15 piece
band. "That's when I fell in love with the "BIG BAND"
sound.

One Turning point came when GERRI met and joined
the LOU PAYNE band playing the Concord Hotel in Catskills, upstate
N.Y. While appearing there she was signed by the William Morris
Agency, who promptly booked her on the Kraft Music Hall with ED
MCMANN, and that began her odyssey through TV land.
GERRI's TV credits include ED SULLIVAN, JOHNNY CARSON,
Mike Douglas, Merve Griffen, David Frost, Virginia Graham, and
Jonathan Winters. She was a regular on a weekly variety series
"What's It All About World" with Dean Jones plus a TV
Variety Special "The SINGERS" with Mel Torme and Jack
Jones.
Through the William Morris Agency GERRI was introduced
tot the fantastic showman SAMMY DAVIS JR. with whom a delightfully
long and studious relationship developed. Between her ever-present
smile Granger admits, "He was my Mentor" ... Watching
her showmanship today one can see SAMMY's fine hand in the way
Gerri develops and handles an audience.
Determination has always played a big part in Gerri
Granger's life when she crashed landed on a solo flight, where
she lived in Nigeria, West Africa, it made her more determined
than ever to get her private pilot license. So back to the States
and a Colorado Flight School.
When she was told she had to speak German to sing
on a German TV series, back she went to Switzerland (where she
also lived awhile) to take an intensive Language course.
What is GERRI GRANGER up to now? After what she
calls her "Hiatus" from the stage, she has taken her
"Act" on the "High Seas" .... Where you might
catch her sailing to "anyplace" that's "far-away,"
where she has never been before. For the last two years GERRI
has also been working on original song material for an upcoming
CD Release. She worked on a very exciting music project in Fort
Lee, N.J. with music legend "Yuochio Oda." GERRI is
presently working on her autobiography and she hopes to release
here book sometime in 2006.
GERRI borrows this famous line: "I'm back on
the road again, making music with and for my friends.
